What began as an experiment in 2014, to reach new audiences and build a local film community in our parks, has become an annual tradition - bringing local films to local parks for more than a decade.

Join us August 26-31 for 16 brand new local films, screening in 10 parks across the city!

FILMS

Chicago Onscreen 2024 features a selection of 16 films centering around the ways Chicago’s human and non-human residents make their lives in the city. Drawing parallels between Chicago citizens and the wildlife of the city, Chicago Onscreen 2024 explores the dual nature of Chicago as urban metropolis and urban wilderness.

FILMMAKERS

Chicago offers no shortage of inspiration for the artists that call the city their home. Stunning views and intriguing angles present themselves to painters, poets, and filmmakers around every corner. But beyond the big, beautiful, and famous, it's Chicago's residents that fill the city with artistic potential and limitless creative possibility. This year's filmmakers draw their inspiration from their friends and families, their neighbors, community legends, and the four-legged critters living among us all.
